Yamaha BLU CRU riders lead the way, earning 11 titles and 32 moto wins at the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship

Yamaha BLU CRU riders delivered a standout showing at the 44th running of the Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, claiming 11 national titles and 32 moto victories — the most of any brand — at the iconic Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

Amateur riders descended on the legendary motocross venue last week to battle for the coveted national number-one plates amidst the heat and humidity. Leading the charge for the BLU CRU was the Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha team, making its Loretta Lynn’s debut as Yamaha’s official amateur team and earning an impressive seven national titles aboard the YZ lineup — from the YZ65 to the YZ250F.

Backing up his 2024 double-title season aboard the YZ125, Owen Covell had a breakout ride on the Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha YZ250F. In addition to sweeping the 450 B class en route to the crown, the Massachusetts rider finished the week with a total of four moto wins and second overall in the 250 B Championship (1-3-2). Covell was also awarded BLU CRU Amateur Rider of the Year and was presented with a special BLU CRU BOXO toolbox.

“It was a good week for me,” Covell said. “I had some stacked classes and it was not going to be easy, but I’m happy with my riding and it feels good to bring another one home. With all the work we put in, we’re expected to do this here, so I’m proud to make it happen. Now we’ll get back to work for more championships.”

Rising star Tayce Morgan also enjoyed a stellar outing, claiming the Mini Sr 1 (12-14) title with a 2-2-1 moto score and the Mini Sr 2 (13-15) Championship with a 3-1-1 result aboard his Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha YZ85LW. Morgan was honored as BLU CRU Youth Rider of the Year, also receiving a BLU CRU BOXO toolbox.

“I worked so hard this year to be ready for Loretta’s,” Morgan said. “I knew I needed to be consistent in all six motos. I managed my first moto to keep me in the title hunt with a 35th and 30th gate pick. My week was solid with the two championships, the Yamaha Youth Rider of the Year, and the Air Force Aegis Award. I am so happy I was able to win both championships for myself and the team. We all worked so hard for it.”

Tate Brush also had a standout performance at Loretta Lynn’s, earning the first 65cc (7-9) title for Yamaha aboard his Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha YZ65 with a 1-3-1 result. The young rider from Atwood, Tennessee, also had a strong showing in the 65cc (7-9) Limited class, finishing third overall (4-2-4). “This has been my dream for so long,” he said. “I’ve worked so hard to get here. A lot of early mornings, tough motos, and never giving up finally paid off. And to be the first one to win my class on a Yamaha is pretty awesome.”

McKayden Fitch added another title for the Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha squad in the 250 B Limited class. Like his teammate Covell, he enjoyed a successful debut at The Ranch aboard the YZ250F. After a fourth-place finish in the opening moto, Fitch came back strong to claim back-to-back victories and the championship. “I’ve been working very hard these last couple of months, and to see it pay off is awesome,” he said. “I’m happy with my performance and to be able to bring home a Loretta Lynn’s title. I’m very grateful to be able to do it with the team.”

In the Women’s Championship, Lachlan Turner delivered a flawless performance. She won all three motos aboard her Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha YZ250F by healthy margins to secure her first title in the class. “Going 1-1-1 at The Ranch has been a dream of mine for years,” she said. “So to finally get it done after all the hard work, the highs and lows, the good and bad days of training, is amazing. I’m just beyond grateful for everyone behind me. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Kane Bollasina also enjoyed top honors, riding his Altus Motorsports BLU CRU Yamaha YZ125 to a 4-1-2 result en route to the Schoolboy 1 (12-17) B/C title. “It means everything to me to get this championship,” he said. “I never thought I would be here, but we’ve been putting in the work at Game Moto, and we’re champions. I’m so thankful for the team and everyone that’s been in my corner.”

In the Vet 30+ class, Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha’s Brandon Haas defended his crown with another dominant performance aboard his YZ450F, sweeping all three motos. “Defending the #1 plate comes with some emotions I've never experienced,” he said. “My goal was to get three good starts, and with the Yamaha power, I came in with a lot of confidence knowing that I could do that. Three near-perfect starts led us to 1-1-1 moto scores for our third Vet championship! I couldn’t be happier.”

Texan Jacob Baumert celebrated a long-awaited first Loretta Lynn’s title, winning all three motos in the Junior 25+ Championship aboard his Crosley Radio Yamaha YZ450F. “It’s been three years since I was here,” he said. “I knew I could win if I came in prepared, and we did that. It just feels so awesome. I’ve never won a moto or championship at Loretta’s. I’m thirty-two years old, so it’s not like I’m just starting out, but you can never replace this feeling.”

NXT LVL Training’s Cooper Bergeron made his Loretta Lynn’s debut one to remember, capturing the 450 C Championship aboard his YZ250F with two moto wins and a runner-up finish in the final moto. He also came close to a second title, finishing runner-up in the 250 C Jr. (12-17) Limited class (3-2-1).

“I really wanted to get that 250 C Jr. Limited Championship too,” Bergeron said. “I just barely missed it points-wise. So I’m bummed about that, but my experience as a whole was amazing! It was my first time at Loretta’s. Luckily, I’m used to the humidity and heat, training at NXT LVL, and Jessica Patterson knows how to get us ready, so I was very prepared for that. I felt very well taken care of, with everything Yamaha did for us – the trackside support and the family dinner. Overall, it was a great first time at The Ranch. I’m so thankful to be supported by so many wonderful people and companies.”

Rounding out the BLU CRU’s AMA Amateur National Motocross class champions was the young Steele Crocker, who won the Micro 1 (4-6) Shaft Dr LTD Championship with a 2-1-4 moto score.
