Class-Leading Suspension
World renowned suspension performance straight out of the box. High-spec fully adjustable Speed Sensitive System KYB® coil spring-type fork provides exceptional bump absorption, and now features toolless compression clickers for easy adjustment and new fork covers to help prevent debris damage. The linkage-type rear suspension features a KYB® shock with cross-country focused damping characteristics to match the YZ450FX's refined chassis.
High Performance Braking System
Compact front and rear brake calipers work with aggressive pad compounds and lightweight discs to provide exceptional braking power and control, efficiently dissipate heat, and reduce unsprung weight.
Ergonomics Designed for Control
The YZ450FX's slim, flat, compact body eases rider movement for improved control, including seamless, rounded features from seat edges and side covers to the narrow fuel tank and front shroud. The rider triangle is also designed to provide increased legroom between the seat and foot pegs for enhanced rider comfort.

Powerful 450cc Four-Stroke Engine
Featuring a reversed cylinder head layout, forged aluminum piston, 39 mm titanium valves, lightened crank assembly and dry sump lubrication, the YZ450FX's advanced DOHC four-stroke engine is light, compact and world renowned for its incredibly broad pulling power across the entire rev range. Additionally, ECU settings are tailored to suit the specific needs of cross country and enduro competition.
Industry-Leading Yamaha Power Tuner App
The free-of-charge Yamaha Power Tuner App brings the power of the GYTR® Power Tuner to an iOS® or Android® device, allowing owners to adjust air/fuel mixture and ignition timing, log race set-up information, and monitor a range of data such as maintenance and system diagnosis, engine run time, and more. Yamaha's next-generation Power Tuner App is more user-friendly with intuitive features including a "Simple Tuning" slide bar for engine mapping, Traction Control tuning, lap timer, and helpful engine and suspension tuning guides.
Traction Control System
Controlled through the Power Tuner App, the Traction Control System communicates wheel slip to the ECU, tuning the engine to maintain ideal rear wheel traction. Three levels can be selected: HIGH, LOW or OFF.
On-The-Fly Engine Mapping Selection
Lightweight handlebar-mounted switchgear allows the rider to quickly select between preloaded engine maps"”loaded and configured in the Power Tuner App"”to adjust for changing riding conditions. Map 1 provides more responsive, quicker revving engine characteristics while Map 2 provides smoother response and slower revving characteristics for when traction is limited.
Advanced Fuel Injection
The engine breathes through a 44mm Mikuni® throttle body fed by a high-pressure electric pump to ensure optimum fuel atomization and power for a wide range of altitudes, weather and riding conditions.
Compact Lightweight Clutch
The YZ450FX's clutch design utilizes a disc spring and integrates primary gear and basket into a single steel unit. The result is a more compact, lightweight and durable assembly which yields smooth engagement and excellent feel.
Wide-Ratio Five-Speed Transmission
The YZ450FX's wide-ratio 5-speed transmission provides a gear for any off-road location, from tight technical sections to open fields and fire roads. The tri-shaft transmission layout vertically stacks the transmission shafts, raising the center shaft and forming a triangle between the crank, drive shaft and main shaft for a lighter, more compact transmission.
Electric Starter System
The YZ450FX features a compact electric starter system to minimize restart delays in competition and add convenience everywhere else. Powered by a high-capacity and lightweight four-cell lithium-ion battery, the system adds consistent performance and minimal weight.
CHASSIS/SUSPENSION
Aluminum Bilateral Beam Frame
Striking the perfect balance of precise cornering performance and handling stability, the redesigned aluminum bilateral beam frame consists of more than 10 different aluminum components welded together with YZ450FX-specific XC-tuned engine mounts. The result is a better handling machine with lighter feel, improved bump absorption and increased traction, allowing the rider to enter corners with greater confidence and more line choices.
Class-Leading Suspension
The industry-leading, fully adjustable KYB® coil spring-type fork with speed-sensitive damping provides exceptional balance between handling and bump absorption, and now features a new hand operated compression clicker for toolless adjustments. The linkage type rear suspension uses a KYB® shock with specially-tuned damping characteristics to match the YZ450FX chassis.

The YZ450FX's 18-inch rear wheel comes laced with a three-cross-spoke pattern for improved impact absorption and rider feel. Wheels come wrapped in Dunlop® Geomax MX33 tires for an ideal balance of traction and durability.

Race-Winning Details
The YZ450FX boasts a wide range of additional top-spec details carried over from the competition-tested YZ450F including rubber-mounted, four-position adjustable handlebar clamps, 1-1/8-inch aluminum tapered handlebars, wide foot pegs with lightweight aluminum alloy mounting brackets and a quick-adjust clutch perch.
GNCC® Focus
The YZ450FX includes a range of cross country specific upgrades compared to the YZ450F motocrosser including a larger 2.1-gallon fuel capacity with level warning indicator, 18-inch rear wheel, composite engine guard, sealed O-ring chain and a folding aluminum kickstand.
Embedded Graphics
Premium embedded graphics are built into the bodywork for extended durability, resisting both peeling and damage.
