Yamaha Wraps 2024 bLU cRU Invitational Series at Budds Creek
Historic Program will Send Three Young Racers to Represent Team USA at the YZ bLU cRU SuperFinale in the UK During Motocross of Nations / Aug 14, 2024 /
Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, has completed its three-round 2024 bLU cRU Invitational Series at a muddy Budds Creek finale with racers battling to make the cut for an historic first-ever sponsored trip to race in the United Kingdom this fall.
Based on race results and rider resumes from the three-race series, Yamaha will be selecting three Yamaha bLU cRU racers, one each from the YZ65, YZ85, and YZ125 classes to represent Team USA at the YZ bLU cRU SuperFinale. Scheduled for this October 4 through 6 at the iconic Matterley Basin track in Winchester, UK, the annual Yamaha SuperFinale race will piggyback Motocross of Nations.
“From Glen Helen to Washougal and finally Budds Creek, Yamaha riders came out strong this year for the bLU cRU Invitational events and we’ll have a tough time selecting only three of the amazing riders for the trip to the United Kingdom,” said Jennifer Davie, Yamaha’s experiential marketing manager. “The Invitationals are designed to bring together Yamaha racers and their families to celebrate the motocross lifestyle we’re all so passionate about in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. We were impressed by all the talented riders who came out, young to young-at-heart, and we look forward to seeing what our three winners will bring to the SuperFinale this fall.”
This year’s bLU cRU Invitational events, hosted at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California; Washougal Motocross Park in Washougal, Washington; and Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland; attracted Yamaha owners along with their family and friends to race, camp, enjoy family activities together, and hang out with our bLU cRU ambassadors Ryan Villopoto, Damon Bradshaw and Doug Dubach.
Each round of the series featured training sessions led by Dubach, Villopoto, and Bradshaw, and included two days of racing for all ages with a rider-favorite three-moto format.
Fifteen finalists from the YZ65, YZ85, and YZ125 classes at each Invitational raced their way into the final qualifiers. Out of the 45 total qualifiers, three (one from each class) will be chosen to represent Yamaha’s Team USA this year at the SuperFinale. In addition to showing their talent and competitive spirit on the track during the qualifying rounds of the bLU cRU Invitational series, the racers’ experience and character are going to be taken into consideration by a panel of industry judges based on qualifications expressed through their applications, resumes, and report cards.
These talented few racers will be hosted by Yamaha for the week-long experience designed to make them “feel like a factory racer.” This first-ever opportunity includes racing a GYTR kitted and Yamaha-prepared motorcycle, receiving exclusive Alpinestars gear, and be introduced to international competition and worldwide recognition at an iconic track. Yamaha’s Team USA will have the opportunity to take home top honors while competing with SuperFinale racers from Europe, Australia and Canada.
